Metropolitan Stevedore Company seeks an experienced Per Diem Operations Manager to oversee barge loading operations and supervise union labor across multiple port locations. Responsibilities include directing union labor, approving overtime, coordinating with authorities and customers, and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3+ years in maritime, stevedoring, or terminal ops, preferably supervisory.
  • Valid driver’s license and TWIC (or ability to obtain) required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supervises barge loading operations for safe and timely cargo handling.
  • Directs union labor and foremen per collective bargaining agreements.
  • Administers labor relations, including discipline and grievances.
  • Coordinates with port authorities, vessel agents, and customers to align plans.
  • Reviews load plans, timecards, and safety checklists for accuracy and compliance.
  • Implements safety policies and conducts root-cause analyses and incident investigations.
  • Monitors performance and identifies cost-effective process improvements.
  • Cross-trains to support flexibility and team development.
  • Responds to operational needs including weekends and on-call hours.
