Job summary

Scenic Group seeks an experienced river captain to lead operations across our European fleet. You will represent the company values, ensure professional service, and uphold safety standards on board and ashore.

You will supervise nautical teams, maintain procedures, liaise with authorities, and conduct safety drills. Fluent German and English with guests and staff are required; a strong sense of responsibility is essential.

Qualifications

  • Qualified as a Captain on one or more rivers (Danube, Dutch/Belgian, Rhine/Main/Moselle, Seine/Rhône/Saône)
  • A or B river patent and radar/radio certificates for operation areas
  • German and English communication with guests and crew
  • Strong leadership, social interaction, and responsibility for safety

Responsibilities

  • Represent Scenic Group values and visions
  • Ensure professional, courteous service while managing daily operations
  • Maintain company standards and operating procedures
  • Ensure safety of ship, staff and passengers; enforce Safety Management Plan
  • Conduct quality controls and spot checks; supervise nautical-technical maintenance
  • Interact with guests and liaise with local authorities during inspections and audits
  • Assist with safety drills and routine safety equipment checks
