Uniworld is seeking a seasoned captain for European inland waterways aboard our luxury river ships. You will lead the nautical team, ensure ship safety, and maintain high service standards while coordinating with hotel and cruise management.

Qualifications

• Valid captain’s license for EU inland waterways.
• Maintain accurate nautical records, logbooks, and reports as required by law and company standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Hotel Manager and Cruise Manager to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with licensing, certification, and labour regulations.
• Support company audits, inspections, and safety reviews.

Responsibilities

• Navigate the vessel safely in accordance with EU inland waterway regulations, company standards, and international safety conventions.
• Ensure the safety of all passengers, crew, and vessel at all times.
• Monitor river conditions, locks, and bridges to guarantee safe and timely passage.
• Conduct and oversee safety drills, emergency preparedness, and regular inspections.
• Lead, manage, and motivate the nautical team with professionalism and authority.
• Oversee the technical condition and maintenance of the vessel during the sailing season and lay-up periods.
• Report and follow up on defects, repairs, or damages in cooperation with the technical department.
