Job summary

SubSea Craft is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Engineer to develop mechanical designs from concept through prototyping, testing and validation for marine environments. You will create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost‑effective solutions.

Proficiency in CAD software such as Inventor or SolidWorks, plus experience with composites and corrosion mitigation, is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex design challenges.
• Proactive mindset, willing to challenge conventional thinking.
• Proficiency in sketching and communicating design concepts visually.
• Expertise in 3D modelling software such as Inventor or SolidWorks.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes for maritime tech.
• Familiar with regulatory requirements and standards for marine systems; Lloyd’s or DNV-GL experience is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed analysis of design requirements to develop innovative mechanical solutions.
• Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Substantiate designs with analytical methods, FEA, and simulations for safety and performance.
• Collaborate with electrical, naval architecture, and control systems engineers for system integration.
• Select materials with corrosion resistance and weight optimization considerations.
• Develop and maintain design documentation and ensure configuration control.
• Prototype, test, and validate designs through iterative processes.
