Job summary

Intellectt INC is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support conceptual research and development for boat products. The role focuses on turning industrial design concepts and surface models into practical, prototype-ready CAD designs, located in Edgewater, FL.

You will work with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and SolidWorks to develop mechanisms, determine materials, and manage large assemblies, sheet metal, and weldments, delivering prototype-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience translating industrial designs into CAD models.
• Proficiency with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and SolidWorks.
• Ability to develop mechanisms and select materials.
• Experience with weldments, sheet metal, and large assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Support conceptual design rather than production engineering.
• Convert industrial design concepts and surface models into CAD models.
• Develop mechanisms, select materials, and finalize design details.
• Create and manage 3D models, drawings, and assemblies.
• Work with Siemens NX, Teamcenter and SolidWorks.
• Develop practical CAD designs for mechanisms and swim-step components.
• Turn designers' drawings into usable CAD models.
• Support and validate 3D-printed models, molds, and prototypes.
• Manage prototype lifecycles from design through build.
• Collaborate with external prototype suppliers and internal teams.
• Ensure prototype-ready solutions with engineering and design teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Support advanced conceptual design rather than production engineering or released boat-part drawings.
• Convert industrial design concepts and surface models into usable CAD models.
• Develop mechanisms, determine materials, fit, and other design details.
• Create and manage 3D models, drawings, large assemblies, sheet metal, and weldment designs.
• Work with Siemens NX, Teamcenter, and SolidWorks.
• Develop practical CAD designs for mechanisms such as aluminum weldment racks, movable flight-board mechanisms, and fold-down swim steps.
• Turn designers' conceptual drawings into practical CAD models.
• Support and validate 3D-printed models, shell molds, and production molds.
• Manage prototype lifecycles from design through prototype build.
• Work with external prototype suppliers and support vendor identification when required.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to develop prototype-ready solutions.
