Job summary

Tecnova Advanced Systems, Inc. in San Diego, CA, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer II/III to own designs from concept to release and drive new product development for subsea equipment.

You will lead mechanical designs, develop 3D models, and coordinate with production, purchasing, and quality teams. Responsibilities include delivering engineering outputs, performing analyses, leading design reviews, supporting prototyping and manufacturing, and mentoring junior engineers to strengthen internal

Qualifications

• 3-8 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency with modern 3D CAD tools to create and manage parts, assemblies, and documentation.
• Solid working knowledge of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Ability to write clear technical notes, summaries, or reports describing design intent, test results, or investigation findings.
• Hands-on experience in a production or workshop environment, collaborating with machinists and technicians.

Responsibilities

• Own and lead mechanical designs for underwater systems and related hardware, from concept through detailed models and released documents.
• Prepare and maintain engineering deliverables for production and field use.
• Perform engineering analyses (hand calcs and FEA) to confirm parts withstand loads and operating conditions.
• Define requirements and lead design reviews and technical discussions for standard and custom projects.
• Support build, assembly, and testing of prototypes and production units on the shop floor.
• Lead root-cause investigations and drive corrective actions to implementation.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams on materials, fabrication methods, and inspection criteria.
• Mentor junior engineers and improve internal processes for documentation and release.
