Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer specializing in maritime and civil works. The role leads project teams, coordinates with clients and contractors, and manages scope, schedule, and budget across waterfront and inland waterways projects.

The ideal candidate holds a PE license, a Bachelor’s in Structural/Civil Engineering, 10+ years of relevant experience, and strong FE software proficiency (ETABS, RAM, STAAD, SAP2000). American citizenship required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
  • PE license.
  • At least 10 years’ relevant professional experience designing structures for maritime, civil works, and buildings.
  • Experience working in a multi‑disciplined environment.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including presentations.
  • Proficiency in structural finite element analysis software (ETABS, RISA, RAM, STAAD, SAP2000, MathCAD).
  • Knowledge of technical codes & standards (IBC, ASCE, UFC).
  • United States Citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams through the design process and interact directly with clients, owners, and contractors.
  • Accountable for schedule, scope, budget, and quality of engineering tasks, calculations, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate design activities with waterfront ports and maritime engineers on coastal and inland waterways projects.
  • Prepare and review construction documents and calculations to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Build relationships across Jacobs’ Civil Works staff to support multi-disciplinary collaboration.
