Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Ports & Maritime Structural Engineer in Florida to lead design of coastal and waterfront structures, from piers to bulkheads, with emphasis on concrete and steel and seismic design.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perform analyses, deliver drawings and specifications, and support proposals across maritime projects throughout Florida and the Southeast. Hybrid work model with office and field site involvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 4+ years of progressive experience in structural engineering with emphasis on concrete/steel structures.
  • Working knowledge of ACI, AISC, AASHTO and seismic design for marine structures.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software; familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Revit.
  • Understanding of building codes and concrete/steel/timber design principles.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and smaller scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design of marine and waterfront structures per codes and standards.
  • Prepare structural calculations, design reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Support development of cost estimates, schedules, and bid documents.
  • Lead or contribute to condition assessments, field investigations, and construction support.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, contractors, clients, and agencies.
  • Assist with proposal development, presentations, and client engagement.
  • Manage tasks or small projects, ensuring quality, schedule and budget.
  • Contribute to innovation, sustainability and resilience strategies in ports/maritime.
