Colonna’s Shipyard, Inc. is seeking a skilled welder for 2nd shift, onsite in Norfolk, VA. You will perform welding on ship components and structures, following blueprints and procedures under senior supervision.

The role requires 5+ years in a marine/shipyard setting, proficiency in SMAW and FCAW, and the ability to work in tight spaces and at heights. Strong teamwork and safety focus are essential for production support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of welding experience in a marine or shipyard environment.
• Proficiency in SMAW and FCAW welding techniques.
• Ability to read blueprints and weld to procedures.
• Lift heavy materials, work at heights, and operate in confined spaces.
• Must be able to weld in horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.

Responsabilités

• Perform welding tasks using stick welding, flux core, and carbon arc welding on steel and aluminum.
• Prepare materials and surfaces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and pre-heating as necessary.
• Ensure welds meet industry standards via visual inspections and non-destructive testing methods.
• Repair damaged welds and maintain welding equipment for safety and efficiency.
• Lay out workpieces based on measurements and technical drawings.
• Perform post-weld finishing, including grinding and smoothing weld seams.
• Collaborate with team and mentor other crew members as needed.
