Colonna’s Shipyard, based in Norfolk, VA, is seeking an experienced Pipe Welder to support the construction and maintenance of marine vessels. You will weld pipes using TIG, MIG, stick, and flux core, reading blueprints, and ensuring the integrity of piping systems on ships.

The role requires 5+ years of welding experience in shipyards, welding certifications, and the ability to work extended hours onsite. This position may involve limited travel and offers a competitive pay range and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of pipe welding experience, preferably in shipyards or marine environments.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., 6G, ASME, AWS) for TIG, MIG, stick, and flux core.
• Strong pipe welding and cutting skills with understanding of shipbuilding practices.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.

Responsabilités

• Weld pipes in multiple positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead) using TIG, MIG, stick, and flux core.
• Weld pipes from carbon steel, stainless steel, copper-nickel and other alloys ensuring proper fusion.
• Read blueprints/schematics/isometrics to plan welding tasks.
• Prepare pipes by cutting, fitting, grinding, and beveling for welding.
• Inspect welds to ensure quality; perform NDT as required.
• Repair/replace damaged sections of piping as needed.
• Collaborate with other trades to meet project timelines.
• Prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Mentor crew members and provide training as needed.
