Job summary

Moran Towing Corporation, based in Jacksonville, FL, is hiring a Vessel Coordinator for a full-time, exempt role reporting to the Regional Vice President, Southeast. The position focuses on coordinating tug and crew movements for port operations and requires flexibility for varied hours including nights and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Excellent customer service and a courteous demeanor.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work varying hours, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Prior marine and/or coordination experience is a definite asset.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate communication between tug and shoreside personnel, transmitting orders and coordinating dockside activities.
  • Prepare and communicate daily position reports to customers and management.
  • Allocate tugs, pilots, and crews to jobs based on safety and efficiency.
  • Support vessel requests from Operations personnel.
  • Coordinate tug movements with forecasted jobs while respecting crew work hour limitations.
  • Review vessel traffic for status and potential problems and report them.
  • Interact with customers, agents, docking pilots, and crews to address questions or requests for service.
  • Utilize outside resources when required, including hiring contractors.
  • Maintain and file records of requests, work, charges, expenses, and inventory.
  • Promote a safety-first culture and report incidents as required.
  • Develop and execute plans using knowledge of tug capabilities and port characteristics.
  • Monitor daily activities and flag deviations or opportunities to management.
  • May review invoices or re-bills and input data into Helm.
  • May prepare daily work sheets for vessel movements and document changes.
  • May coordinate fuel/lube purchases for tugs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
