Job summary
Moran Towing Corporation is seeking an Assistant Engineer to support safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all machinery and related systems aboard our vessel. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and involves hands-on maintenance, logging, and fuel/oil handling responsibilities on a full-time basis.
The ideal candidate will have STCW endorsements, a current medical certificate, and a TWIC, with preferred maritime degree and some sea-going experience.
Qualifications
- STCW endorsements for required service (Chief Engineer or OICEW).
- Current Medical Certificate.
- Valid TWIC.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to SMS; report unsafe situations or improvement opportunities.
- Liaise with off-going engineers to learn machinery and status; handover duties.
- Keep Chief Engineer informed of unusual conditions affecting safety or schedule.
- Maintain Engine Log, Oil Record Book, and maintenance records.
- Assist with monthly fuel/lube oil reporting and bunker log entries.
- Assist with loading/transfer of fuel oil, lube oil, waste oil, and water.
- Monitor spare parts quality and inventories; maintain adequate supplies.
- Assist on the barge as directed by Chief Engineer or Captain.
- Complete general and planned maintenance tasks as directed.
