Job summary

Serco is seeking a Marine Engineer for our Maritime Engineering Operation in Arlington, VA. You will perform analyses, develop design documentation, and support ship and system design across multiple programs for the US Navy and commercial clients.

The role requires ABET-accredited Marine Engineering (or related) degree and 5+ years of experience, with strong communication skills and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Travel up to 10% may be needed.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited university degree in Marine Engineering or related field (e.g., Ocean, Mechanical).
• At least 5 years of professional Marine Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of applying engineering science to the design and production of marine craft.
• Experience with government contracting environments and technical, scientific, and analytical services.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex concepts clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and review of auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion systems.
• Develop analyses and deliverables compliant with regulatory rules and industry standards.
• Lead or participate in requirements development, specifications, and technical reports.
• Coordinate inputs across marine engineering disciplines to define machinery layouts and space allocations.
• Provide design support from concept through detailed design and construction; assist tests at shipyard sites.
