Job summary

Serco Inc. in the Arlington, VA area is seeking a Marine Engineer to design and review ship systems, provide analyses, and support design across stages from concept to construction.

You will work with naval architecture and other engineering disciplines, develop feasibility studies for auxiliary systems, and assist with technical reports and government/ commercial client briefings. U.S. security clearance may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering or a related field.
• 5 years of related and progressive Marine Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of engineering principles for design and production of marine craft.
• Experience with government contracting environments is beneficial.
• Strong verbal and written communication; able to present to stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform auxiliary, fluid, mechanical, engine, and propulsion system design or review.
• Develop analyses and products per applicable rules and standards.
• Lead or participate in design requirements, specifications, and reports.
• Coordinate inputs across naval architecture and structural disciplines.
• Provide concept studies for auxiliary and fluid systems (fuel, seawater, etc.).
• Develop equipment concepts (refrigeration, pumps, motors, HVAC).
• Support design through DD&C and onsite shipyard activities.
• Create machinery layouts and analyze space allocations and access.
