Job summary

Orion Marine Contractors Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to provide engineering support for marine construction projects, including bid package development, cost estimation, supplier selection, and material procurement.

You will interpret plans, schedule work, and coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and foremen to drive project success. The role emphasizes safety, quality, delivery, and teamwork, with integrity as a core foundation.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Civil Engineering/Construction Science or related discipline and 2 years of work experience are required.
• Working knowledge of Project Management & Administration, Marine Construction, Materials Procurement, Estimating, Scheduling, Project Tracking Software, Cost Control, Engineering & Project Standards, and Safety & Environmental Compliance.

Responsibilities

• Works with the Project Management Team to ensure the successful completion of ongoing or new projects.
• Monitors actual costs and completes current project(s) accounting for materials, services, labor, and other associated costs.
• Develops bid packages for subcontractors.
• Procures subcontractors, permanent materials, consumables, and services from suppliers for current projects as required by project needs.
• Interprets project plans and specifications.
• Schedules project work activities according to plan timelines to ensure timely project completion.
• Provides interface with project team members, suppliers, customers, and others who are involved in project work.
• Ensures that project team members are provided a safe work environment and are knowledgeable of safe work practices and policies.
• Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance with State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
• Assists in the development of bid proposals for upcoming marine construction and services projects.
