Job summary

Hornblower Group is seeking a prep cook to support events aboard our vessels and on-site kitchens in San Diego. You will prepare food, assist with deliveries, and maintain clean, safe galley conditions while adhering to sanitation standards.

You will learn basic cooking skills, work with a team, and have opportunities to progress to other culinary roles within the Hornblower Group's marine hospitality division, with exposure to a dynamic, guest-focused operation.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years kitchen prep experience.
  • Knowledge of health sanitation codes.
  • Able to obtain TWIC and MMC certification.
  • Must be able to understand and communicate with English speaking crew.
  • Grooming: All crew members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available in the Employee Handbook).
  • Physical Demands: Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequently; ascend/descend stairs or ladders safely; maneuver in small confined areas; stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in stocking products from deliveries, maintaining proper rotation and storage.
  • Follow food production guidelines, preparing food in the allotted time frame.
  • Maintain safe and sanitary food standards.
  • Label, date and initial all prepared and stored food products.
  • Monitor all work areas consistently throughout shift.
  • Clean and organize food and pan storage daily.
  • Report any tools / equipment in need of repair or replacement.
  • Additional job duties assigned.
