Job summary

EMI is seeking a Field Service Technician II to provide intermediate support for marine control systems aboard commercial vessels. You will install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and demonstrate systems with increasing autonomy, while balancing hands-on work and customer interaction.

Qualifications include an associate degree or technical training, 2–5 years of experience, and the ability to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in engineering/technology a plus.
  • 2–5 years of experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to plan work.
  • Travel up to 75% to shipyards, ports, and customer vessels.
  • Lead or support system installations, wiring terminations, calibrations, and demos.
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC-based control systems and electronics.
  • Access and modify PLC logic with programming department coordination.
  • Train Technician I staff on field practices.
  • Maintain detailed service documentation and report modifications to engineering.
  • Represent EMI to customers with professionalism and expertise.
  • Participate in 24-hour on-call rotation.
