Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Inc is seeking a Vessel Engineer to maintain and repair the vessel’s mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. The role requires ensuring equipment readiness, performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and operating hydraulic gear as needed.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of marine diesel and vessel maintenance experience, STCW and TWIC credentials, and strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• High School education required.
• Minimum 3 years experience with marine diesel engines, electrical/hydraulic systems, and vessel maintenance.
• TWIC and STCW certifications required.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of main engines, generators, pumps, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.
• Operate engine room and deck equipment; keep daily logs and report issues.
• Ensure fire prevention and safety equipment compliance per maritime procedures.
• Manage spare parts, supplies, and inventory.
• Maintain engineering logs and prepare records.
