Job summary

Massachusetts Maritime Academy is seeking an experienced diesel technician to diagnose problems and perform complex repairs on customer vessels, at dock or sea, including engines, propulsion, electronics, and subsystems. The role requires travel to customer sites with a service truck provided and overtime as needed.

You should have a high school diploma or GED with 5+ years of related experience; a diesel tech certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED plus 5+ years related experience.
  • Technical degree or diesel engine certification preferred.
  • Owns a full set of standard & metric hand tools, including torque wrenches.
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately trouble shoot and diagnose all problems on customer equipment and perform complex and/or major repairs as required.
  • Work with parts department to identify and order parts necessary to complete repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment according to established guidelines and schedules.
  • Complete all work orders and time sheets in a legible, accurate and timely manner.
  • Must be available to work overtime hours as required to complete repairs, including occasional weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established quality standards and safety procedures.
