Job summary

ORION in Mobile, AL seeks a skilled carpenter to support marine project locations. You will construct, erect, install, and repair concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel supports, and shelters according to sketches and blueprints.

You’ll work with a Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Crane Operator, Boat Captain, and other trades to deliver quality results. The role requires a minimum of two years of carpentry experience, knowledge of concrete forming, and the ability to read plans.

Qualifications

• Two years carpentry experience or equivalent combination of experience and training providing carpentry skills.
• Knowledge of concrete forming systems for reinforced concrete structures.
• Ability to operate various marine equipment and devices.
• Understanding of safe work practices in a marine construction environment.
• General knowledge of carpentry craft and ability to demonstrate proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Works as assigned by the Project Superintendent or Barge Foreman to ensure projects are completed.
• Maintains basic carpentry tools and returns tools to secured location after project completion.
• Interprets plans and specifications to build or repair wooden structures or forms.
• Receives materials and offloads safely and efficiently.
• Lays out foundation, building lines and anchor bolts; shoots elevations and grades as required.
• Erects forms and monitors pours for depressed areas and anchor bolts.
• Performs wood framing and metal stud framing as dictated by the project.
• Inspects and makes minor repairs to wooden structures.
• Collaborates with Barge Foreman and Crane Operators to complete projects safely and efficiently.
