Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead the software systems powering production operations for the satellite fleet. You will own the technical roadmap, define requirements, and architect end-to-end solutions, integrating software with manufacturing systems using AWS cloud, IoT, data analytics, and other modern technologies.

Qualifications

5+ years of engineering team management experience.
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
Experience partnering with product or program management teams.
Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers.
Experience with hardware/software integration and real-time systems.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a team that design, develop, and implement manufacturing software systems for production operations of the Amazon Leo satellite fleet, including integration with manufacturing systems.
Architect scalable software solutions that meet functional requirements, security standards, and performance specifications.
Partner with cross functional teams such as satellite software and hardware engineering teams to deliver solutions that improve manufacturing efficiency and production quality.
Define and implement growth strategies for software services and team capabilities.
Deliver real customer value while raising the bar on operational excellence.
Build, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
