Job summary

Slate is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to drive supplier quality, new product launches, and process development in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in the USA. You will partner with internal teams and suppliers to ensure the highest quality across launches and ongoing production.

The role requires a strong background in QMS tools (Six Sigma, Lean, SPC), FMEA, and risk assessment, plus excellent analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience in engineering or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in quality management systems (QMS) and tools such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and SPC.
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Familiarity with FMEA and risk assessment tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with data-driven decision making.
• Experience in supplier quality management and setting quality expectations for incoming materials.

Responsibilities

• Approve PPAP submissions from suppliers to ensure quality standards and specs.
• Follow up on supplier corrective actions and resolutions.
• Support problem-solving activities related to supplier quality.
• Provide production line support for supplier quality issues.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments and manage certifications.
• Coordinate incoming inspection processes and ensure supplier compliance.
• Provide part inspection support for new products and launches.
• Develop and maintain supplier performance scorecards.
• Collaborate with supplier quality to implement improvement strategies.
• Perform internal audits and monitor KPIs (scrap rates, supplier performance).
• Manage obsolete materials and prevent mixing with active materials.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate quality requirements into manufacturing.
• Maintain quality documentation (control plans, procedures, manuals).
• Support FMEA development and risk assessment activities.
• Provide quality support to technical and manufacturing teams.
• Additional duties as assigned.
