Job summary

Slate is looking for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead new product and process development, ensuring a safe and successful plant launch in the USA. You will apply core quality tools to deliver high-quality vehicles while collaborating with internal and external partners to exceed customer expectations.

The role emphasizes quality assurance, process control, and data-driven decision making in a dynamic startup environment, with responsibilities across APQP/PPAP, FMEA, and supplier quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (e.g. industrial/mechanical/manufacturing)
• 8+ years of automotive engineering/manufacturing quality experience at an OEM/Tier 1 preferred
• Strong knowledge of product/vehicle development and production with focus on plant launches

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust QA and QC processes for sub-assembly and general assembly
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed quality requirements in the manufacturing process
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Conduct audits and inspections of processes for new car launches
• Work with suppliers to set and monitor quality expectations for incoming materials
• Maintain quality documentation including control plans and procedures
• Support FMEA development and risk assessment activities
• Assist in defining quality processes and standards with development and manufacturing teams
