Job summary

Slate Auto LLC is seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead quality for new product launches and process development in a fast-growing automotive startup environment.

You will drive robust QA/QC programs, partner with engineering, manufacturing and suppliers, and ensure data-driven decisions to deliver high-quality vehicles. This role demands extensive experience in automotive quality at OEM/Tier 1 and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing).
• 10+ years of experience in automotive engineering/manufacturing quality at an OEM/Tier 1.
• Proven track record delivering new program launches on time with metrics.
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC disciplines and product/vehicle development.
• Excellent teamwork and communication; data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust quality assurance and control processes relative to Sub-Assembly and General Assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements are integrated into manufacturing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Perform audits and inspections of manufacturing processes for new car launch.
• Work with suppliers to establish and monitor quality expectations for incoming materials.
• Develop and maintain quality documentation (control plans, inspection procedures, quality manuals).
• Employ risk assessment tools to minimize risk and verify robust detection and prevention systems.
• Support development and maintenance of FMEA’s.
• Define quality processes and standards with development, product management and manufacturing.
• Plan and evaluate product test drives and approvals of functions and systems.
• Provide quality support to technical and manufacturing teams and daily operations.
