Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern to apply data-driven problem solving at a GM manufacturing plant. You will liaise between production, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality to drive containment and resolution of non-conforming parts.

You will work onsite, full-time 40 hours per week, supporting launch activities, part measurements, and quality system adoption while building practical problem solving and project management skills in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in mechanically related field (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Quality Engineering).
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability.
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager.
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
• Validate supplier scrap.
• Work with Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) process on supplier related issues.
• Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function.
• Support launch activities of new products.
• Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS.
