Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern to help drive data-driven problem solving in a manufacturing environment. You will serve as a technical liaison among production operations, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality at a GM plant, supporting containment, part measurement and non-conforming product resolutions.

You will participate in launch activities of new products, work closely with cross‑functional teams, and align with GM’s standards for safety and quality in a plant

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Quality Engineering.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be enrolled in a co-op program through Kettering University or Rochester Institute of Technology.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability.
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager.
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
• Validate supplier scrap.
• Work with Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) process on supplier related issues.
• Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function.
• Support launch activities of new products.
• Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS.
