Job summary

General Motors in Michigan seeks a Quality Engineer Intern to drive problem solving and data-driven resolutions with suppliers and internal customers at a GM manufacturing plant. You will act as a technical liaison between production operations and engineering, contributing to quality improvements and containment efforts.

Responsibilities include interfacing with production and engineering on part measurements, containment of non-conforming products, and participation in SPPS and PTR processes,

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Quality Engineering.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality.
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager.
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
• Validate supplier scrap.
• Work with Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) process on supplier related issues.
• Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function.
• Support launch activities of new products.
• Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS.
