Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern to apply analytical thinking to unusual and difficult problems, focusing on quality and safety at a GM manufacturing plant. The role acts as a technical liaison among production, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality to drive data-driven resolutions.

You will interact with production and engineering to ensure part quality, lead containment for non-conforming product, and support new product launches while adhering to GM’s quality systems

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or Quality Engineering
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills
• Validate supplier scrap
• Work with Supplier Practical Problem Solving (SPPS) process on supplier related issues
• Support the PTR Process by running PTR's and evaluating impact on the product / function
• Support launch activities of new products
• Support the implementation and effective adherence to all elements within GMS
