Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern to gain hands-on, data-driven experience in a manufacturing setting. You will work as a technical liaison between production operations, engineering, suppliers, and supplier quality to help drive problem solving and ensure quality throughout the plant.

The role emphasizes evaluating part measurements, containment of non-conforming products, and supporting launch activities for new products within GM's Student Program.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Quality Engineering.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full‑time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.
• Must be enrolled in a co-op program through Kettering University or Rochester Institute of Technology.

Responsibilities

• Interact with production and engineering on part measurement results to part print specifications to assure quality and reliability.
• Ensure effective containment and resolution to identified non-conforming product.
• Communicate emerging issues for responsible components daily to Quality Systems Manager.
• Coordinate repair, rework, and containment activities for identified spills.
• Validate supplier scrap.
• Work with SPPS on supplier related issues.
• Support the PTR Process by running PTRs and evaluating impact on the product/function.
• Support launch activities of new products.
• Support the implementation and adherence to all elements within GMS.
