Job summary

General Motors in Rochester, NY is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support a highly automated, three-shift operation. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with collaboration across Manufacturing, Process, Product, and Mechanical and Controls Engineering to ensure the manufacture of high-quality products.

You will develop data-driven solutions, analyze process data, guide corrective actions, and participate in change management to protect product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field(s).
• Ability to understand and assess complex Engineering issues
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering solutions that result in Continuous Improvement in the areas of Safety, Uptime, and Quality
• Use data to identify process conditions and develop solutions
• Early issue identification, problem-solving, and corrective action tracking and resolution
• Summarize and evaluate reject and defect data to drive continuous improvement
• Provide statistical analysis of manufacturing process data
• Critical role in change management to assure no effect on product quality
• Verify compliance to quality requirements and procedures
• Communication and coordinate information to and from internal and external customers
• Collaborate cross functionally to develop creative solutions
• Remain flexible and at times work extended and non-core hours to ensure issues are worked to resolution
• Support corporate and local Global Manufacturing Systems (GMS) goals related to Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment
