Job summary

General Motors is hiring a Manufacturing Process Engineer for an onsite role in Tonawanda, NY. The position focuses on sustaining and improving safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The role may include off-shift work to support operations.

You will lead continuous improvement, analyze bottlenecks, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new tools, processes, and equipment while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical field.
• Experience solving engineering problems in manufacturing.
• Understanding of mechanical drawings/blueprints.
• Basic machining methods knowledge.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
• Willingness to work non-standard hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day production needs on the floor and collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams.
• Manage downtime events with technical guidance.
• Design work operations meeting safety, quality, and efficiency goals.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and improve throughput.
• Evaluate bottlenecks and support productivity improvements in assigned area.
• Provide technical direction for equipment installation, debugging, and launches.
• Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, and PFMEAs.
• Coordinate with internal/external customers to understand needs.
