Job summary

nVent in Solon, IA is hiring a Manufacturing Operator to set up, operate, and maintain progressive die press machines and related equipment to produce quality parts per blueprint specifications. You will follow safe work procedures and help ensure parts meet high standards.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot issues, read drawings, and use hand and power tools, micrometers, calipers, scales, and gauges.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills with ability to make informed decisions.
• Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment and meet deadlines.
• Self-motivated, safety and quality conscious, and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Experience following work instructions or reading blueprints.
• Experience using hand and power tools.
• Prior experience in a light industrial facility preferred.
• Heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
• Lift truck operator experience recommended.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates heavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten products per blueprints.
• Assist setup and operate multiple automatic/multi-slide equipment for various products.
• Understand and work from drawings, orders, schedules, and written instructions.
• Check material for correct size, type, identification, color and configuration.
• Assist with set-up of dies, equipment, forming blocks; adjust stroke and feed as needed.
• Use micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures and fixed gauges to check in-process work.
• Move materials using pallet jack, lift truck or crane (if PIT qualified).
• Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
• Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions to supervision.
• Observe safety rules and maintain a clean, orderly work area.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, possibly beyond normal shift hours.
