Job summary

Altria is seeking an Associate Manager Manufacturing at the Richmond, VA center to lead maintenance operations and drive continuous improvement. Successful candidates will supervise MULs, coach staff, allocate resources, and steer IWS initiatives while coordinating across shifts and ensuring safety and quality standards.

This role requires extensive supervisory experience in manufacturing, strong union-awareness, and the ability to influence teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years supervisory experience in manufacturing, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Knowledge of Integrated Work Systems and labor/contract management.
• Strong safety, environmental, quality and compliance knowledge.
• Ability to understand machinery and computer applications.
• Deep knowledge of work processes and materials across the facility.
• Root-cause analysis and prevention experience.
• Ability to motivate and influence others.
• Autonomous decision making with good judgement.
• Clear communication of complex information.
• Willingness to work 2nd/3rd shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise MULs and maintenance leads in daily operations.
• Conduct training for MULs and mentor staff.
• Assist in training plans for mechanics and electricians.
• Allocate resources and balance staffing across shifts.
• Lead IWS projects and support pillar initiatives.
• Fill in for managers and ensure continuity.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes.
• Advise on union contracts and relationships as relevant.
• Align unit goals with broader OPCO objectives.
• Be available for 2nd/3rd shift on short notice.
