Job summary

Bystronic, a global technology leader in sheet metal processing, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for its Hoffman Estates, IL operations. You will own mechanical design and localization for key products, collaborating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure quality, safety, and productivity.

You will apply Lean Six Sigma and advanced GD&T while developing processes, fixtures, and production tooling. Occasional travel up to 10% within North America is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Advanced 3D modeling capability; SolidWorks proficiency required; Creo Direct and DraftSight beneficial.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T, tolerances, and technical requirements.
• Lean Six Sigma, 5S, kaizen experience and structured problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the mechanical engineering owner for assigned products, processes, localization projects, operational improvements, and supplier technical issues.
• Support localization of equipment and components for manufacture in the United States by assessing drawings, specifications, materials, supplier capability, and process readiness.
• Collaborate with Procurement and suppliers to interpret models, drawings, specifications, GD&T, materials, and requirements for sourcing; prepare design document packages for RFQs.
• Resolve supplier design and manufacturability questions and evaluate Engineering Change Requests.
• Coordinate with other departments to implement local impacts of global Engineering Changes.
