Job summary

Bystronic seeks a Mechanical Engineer to own mechanical design and process improvements across products and localization projects in North America. The role combines strong design capability with Lean manufacturing, problem solving, and hands-on implementation in production environments.

You will lead cross-functional teams and ensure technical quality, timing, and measurable results. You will design fixtures, develop testing methods, and implement changes while coordinating with Procurement,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with strong design/manufacturing experience.
• Advanced 3D modeling capability and hands-on SolidWorks proficiency preferred.
• GD&T, tolerances, and multi-level BOM/revision control experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as mechanical engineering owner for assigned products and processes.
• Support localization in the United States by assessing drawings, materials, and readiness.
• Prepare complete design packages for RFQ; address supplier questions.
• Lead or support root-cause analysis using 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone methods.
• Develop and improve production, warehouse, and inventory control processes.
• Apply Lean Six Sigma, 5S, and kaizen to drive improvements.
• Provide hands-on floor support during implementation, startup, and sustainment.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Quality, and suppliers on change control.
