Job summary

GE Vernova Gas Power in Richmond, VA, is seeking a Production Lead to oversee the Mechanical Assembly shop, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will coordinate workflow, staff, and resources to meet schedules and quality goals while working with cross-functional teams to remove barriers and improve output.

The role requires 2+ years in manufacturing leadership, an Associate's degree or equivalent, and willingness to work extended shifts and weekends on occasion.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work 1st Shift (7am-3:30pm)
  • Associate's Degree from an accredited University or College OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a manufacturing role
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, repair, or services environment.
  • Prior leadership experience in similar industry (IE: Lead, Influencer, SME)
  • Ability to work extended shifts, weekends, and holidays when needed
  • Legal authorization to work in the USA without sponsorship now or in the future
  • Ability to work 100% onsite at the GE Richmond Service Center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day production leadership for the Mechanical Assembly shop team to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate workflow, staffing, and resources to meet customer requirements, production schedules, and key objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Lead first-line shop activities across multiple shifts, partnering with Technical Leads, Quality Technicians, and other support functions to ensure smooth execution of work.
  • Review production orders, execute schedules, and help remove barriers that could impact output, quality, or timeliness.
  • Identify and solve problems, eliminate waste, and drive visual management and Daily Management System discipline across the department.
  • Analyze machine, tooling, and process issues, take corrective action, and help minimize downtime and disruption to schedules.
  • Support process improvement efforts and assist the Cell Leader in making decisions that improve repairs execution and resource use.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities such as time sheet review and approval, labor vouchering, requisitions, and workforce scheduling.
  • Coach, motivate, and develop team members to strengthen performance, teamwork, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Use strong communication and leadership skills to support a positive, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
