About Universal Plastics:

Universal Plastics specializes in plastic injection molding, including gas assist and structural foam, primarily serving the medical, laboratory, and diagnostic markets. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, modifying, repairing, and rebuilding complex plant machinery, molding machines, and related support equipment across all departments.

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all aspects of injection molding machines, including AC/DC, low voltage circuitry, 480V, hydraulics, motors, pumps, PLCs, pneumatics, and control systems.
• Use complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics to aid in machinery repair.
• Install new equipment or relocate existing equipment, as well as support infrastructure and plant systems.
• Assemble, disassemble, and upgrade production lines or support equipment as needed.
• Perform preventive maintenance on injection molding machines and related equipment.
• Complete all maintenance work orders promptly.
• Inspect fire protection systems, production, and facility equipment regularly.
• Perform general building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, heating, and A/C repairs.
• Follow all safety regulations and practices.
• Assist in other departments as needed and perform miscellaneous duties assigned by the manager.
• Stand, walk, and use hands for 8 to 10 hours daily; this position does not involve sitting.
• Support production through overtime and after-hours work as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in plastic injection molding, with knowledge of hydraulics, PLCs, pneumatics, mechanics, and electrical repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical circuits.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, instructions, and procedures.
• Work efficiently to meet production demands and delivery schedules.
• Maintain flexibility as tasks and jobs change quickly.
• High School Diploma with basic math skills and excellent communication skills.
