Job summary

General Motors is seeking Industrial Engineer interns to perform hands-on work analyzing manufacturing operations and driving improvements on the shop floor. You will evaluate layouts, labor and materials, lead through collaboration, and make data-driven recommendations with mentorship from supervisors.

Selected interns should be pursuing a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, graduating between Aug 2027 and Jun 2029, and able to work 40 hours weekly in a plant environment at GM locations

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
• Must be graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Must be willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the efficiency of manufacturing operations and changes related to personnel, material, machines and facilities.
• Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking and communication skills.
• Make decisions with mentorship from supervisors.
• Confirm or recommend changes to layouts, labor control and/or material control.
• Frequent contact with others outside the work group.
• Assist in developing accurate methods and optimum operation layout.
• Perform vital calculations to complete studies and change routines or other systems of labor and material control.
