Job summary

General Motors is seeking Industrial Engineer interns to perform hands-on work analyzing manufacturing operations and changes related to personnel, material, machines, and facilities. You will lead with guidance from supervisors, applying critical thinking and strong communication while contributing to cost-effective improvements.

The internship is onsite at GM facilities, with locations including Detroit, MI and Romulus, MI.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering.
• Graduating between August 2027 and June 2029.
• Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
• Willing to work in a plant environment.

Responsibilities

• Confirms or recommends changes to layouts, labor control and/or material control.
• Frequent contact with others outside the work group.
• Assists in developing accurate methods and optimum operation layout.
• Makes operation descriptions and performs the vital calculations to complete studies and change routines or other systems of labor and material control.
