Job summary

HAVERHILL is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead people operations at our Warren, RI facility. This hands‑on leadership role will design programs, run them on the floor, and collaborate with our VP Production and production supervisors.

You will build HR infrastructure, manage attendance and leave, and partner with outside counsel on employment matters. Multilingual capability and payroll system expertise are highly valued.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including 3+ years as the senior or sole HR leader at a manufacturing or hourly‑workforce company of 40 to 300 people.
• A track record of building HR infrastructure where little existed, such as a handbook, performance cycle, compliance calendar or onboarding process.
• Hands‑on employee relations on a production floor: investigations, progressive discipline and separations, with files that held up.
• Experience running an OSHA program in a manufacturing setting, including recordkeeping and safety training.
• Working knowledge of Rhode Island employment law and leave programs; Connecticut and New York a plus.
• Experience managing a staffing agency relationship.
• Spanish strongly preferred; experience supporting a multilingual workforce required.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR welcome but not required; degree welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and extend attendance and leave policies in English and Spanish with signed acknowledgments and consistent records in Gusto.
• Extend production skills matrices to every station and implement backup plans for critical roles.
• Launch a cross‑training program with clear sign‑offs and weekly coverage reporting.
• Lead the debrief on peak season and set staffing plans with the agency for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day.
• Own workforce and skills management across production, including skills matrices and certifications.
• Develop supervisors to set expectations, give feedback, and conduct attendance and performance conversations.
• Serve as the first point of contact for employee concerns, workplace investigations, and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee leave, benefits, unemployment claims, workers’ compensation, and benefits administration with broker.
