Addison Group is partnering with a manufacturing organization in Michigan to identify an HR Generalist for a 3–4 month contract to support maternity leave. The role emphasizes manufacturing HR, employee relations, talent acquisition, leadership support, and HR operations at a single site.

The ideal candidate will have 3+ years' HR experience in manufacturing, strong relationship-building with site leadership, and the ability to coach leaders while ensuring compliant HR practices.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment
• Bachelor's degree required
• Strong knowledge of HR practices including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, performance management, leadership development, change management, and organizational development
• Union and labor relations experience strongly preferred
• Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to build effective relationships with employees and leaders at all levels
• Coaching and influencing skills
• Conflict resolution and mediation abilities
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse workforce and community
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities
• Comfortable working directly with site and operational leadership

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, record keeping, benefits administration, and employee relations
• Coach, counsel, and advise leaders and employees on HR best practices throughout the employee lifecycle
• Partner with site leadership on people development, talent management, staffing, retention, organizational development, and performance management initiatives
• Support talent acquisition strategies and maintain strong talent pipelines for production, skilled trades, technical, and supervisory positions
• Partner with leaders on employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness
• Provide HR expertise and guidance related to change management initiatives
• Coach and consult with operations leadership regarding communication, leadership style, and organizational change
• Support leaders through annual HR processes, systems, and performance management activities
• Build management capabilities and provide ongoing HR consultation to local leadership
• Support union and labor relations activities, including contract administration, employee grievances, investigations, meetings, and other labor relations matters
• Help ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, company policies, and HR procedures
• Partner with leadership to identify and address employee relations concerns
• Support a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective communication and relationship building
