Job summary

Addison Group is partnering with a growing manufacturing organization to identify an HR Generalist for a 3–4 month contract to cover maternity leave. The role supports site leadership and employees across onboarding, employee relations, and HR operations, with strong emphasis on manufacturing HR, union relations, and talent acquisition.

  • 3+ years of HR experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation, performance management, leadership development, change management and organizational development.
  • Union and labor relations experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with collective bargaining agreements, grievance processes, and labor relations is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, record keeping, benefits administration, and employee relations.
  • Coach, counsel, and advise leaders and employees on HR best practices throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with site leadership on people development, talent management, staffing, retention, organizational development, and performance management initiatives.
  • Support talent acquisition strategies and maintain strong talent pipelines for production, skilled trades, technical, and supervisory positions.
  • Partner with leaders on employee engagement, retention, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide HR expertise and guidance related to change management initiatives.
  • Coach and consult with operations leadership regarding communication, leadership style, and organizational change.
  • Support leaders through annual HR processes, systems, and performance management activities.
  • Build management capabilities and provide ongoing HR consultation to local leadership.
  • Support union and labor relations activities, including contract administration, employee grievances, investigations, meetings, and other labor relations matters.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable employment laws, regulations, company policies, and HR procedures.
  • Partner with leadership to identify and address employee relations concerns.
  • Support a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective communication and relationship building.

About the Role

Addison Group is partnering with a growing organization in the manufacturing industry to identify an HR Generalist to support their team on a 3–4 month contract basis while providing maternity leave coverage.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced HR professional with a strong background in manufacturing HR, employee relations, talent acquisition, leadership support, and HR operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of HR experience within a manufacturing environment and be comfortable partnering directly with site leadership and employees.

The successful candidate will be a strong relationship builder who can coach and advise leaders, support employee relations, drive HR initiatives, and help ensure HR practices align with business and operational objectives. Union experience is strongly preferred, and bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus.

This is a 3–4 month contract opportunity supporting a manufacturing facility during a maternity leave. The HR Generalist will serve as a key HR partner for the assigned site and work closely with employees, supervisors, and leadership.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a hands-on manufacturing environment and partnering directly with operations leadership. This role requires someone who can quickly build relationships, understand business needs, and provide practical HR guidance.

Union experience is a strong plus, particularly for candidates who have supported collective bargaining agreements, grievances, contract administration, or other labor relations activities.
