Job summary

UMC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Monticello, MN to help shape our part manufacturing processes. You will collaborate with a skilled team under a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, optimize workflows, and deliver cost-effective solutions aligned with our core values.

Ideal candidates have an engineering degree and up to 2 years in manufacturing or quality roles, with basic GD&T, blueprint reading, and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or related technical field required.
• 0-2 years of progressive experience in manufacturing, quality, or related technical roles.
• Foundational knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100 and applicable regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead Manufacturing Engineers to quote work leveraging team resources (Machinists, Application Engineers, Quality Engineers, etc.).
• Review customer requirements from specifications, prints, and models to understand quoting processes.
• Support development and entry of manufacturing processes into ERP, including materials, processes, and cycle times.
• Assist in identifying tooling, fixturing, or inspection equipment requirements.
• Support development of cost-effective manufacturing procedures with production personnel.
• Procure tooling/fixturing by coordinating with suppliers or internal teams.
• Support creation and maintenance of Manufacturing Plans in ERP.
• Provide CNC programming input with tooling, fixtures, and parameters.
• Ensure processes comply with customer specs and AS/ISO standards; participate in technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Quality to disposition nonconformances and establish inspection plans.
• Participate in continuous improvement projects and respond to manufacturing change requests.
