Job summary

Ultra Machining Company (UMC) in Monticello, MN, seeks a Manager of Engineering - Process & Quality to lead Manufacturing and Quality Engineers, drive improvements, and ensure compliant, high-quality production. This hands-on leader will coach teams, manage workloads, and partner across Sales, Supply Chain, and Production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years in Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Engineering, preferably in Precision Machining within the Medical, Aerospace, Space, or Defense industries.
• 3+ years managing engineers, technical resources, and/or projects.
• Working knowledge of regulatory requirements including ISO 9001, ISO 13485, AS9100, RoHS, REACH, and ITAR.
• AQS and/or CQE certification a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise Manufacturing and Quality Engineers aligned to product segments.
• Actively manage team workload and coaching for direct reports.
• Own quarterly improvement projects and drive continuous improvement.
• Monitor workload and schedule using ERP/dispatch tools; keep work flowing smoothly.
• Coach and support teams in sound process and quality decisions.
