Job summary

UMC in Monticello, MN is seeking a Senior CNC Machinist to operate, setup and inspect high-precision parts, ensuring safety and quality standards.

You will use Vericut, master multiple CNC controls, perform first-piece inspections, mentor apprentices, and collaborate with engineering on process improvements to drive efficiency. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and a commitment to UMC core values.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent experience in machining.
• 5+ years machinist experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Experience with high-temp alloys/exotic materials is desirable.
• Proficient in GD&T and reading complex part prints.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
• Skilled in programming with G-code/M-code and machine controls.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machines for all jobs, ensuring quality and efficiency.
• Perform in-machine simulations using Vericut to verify tool paths.
• Meet production targets and manage scrap rates.
• Handle multiple CNC controls (Fanuc, Mitsubishi, MAPPS) and control systems.
• Execute thorough first-piece inspections per the quality plan.
• Log troubleshooting and process improvements for shift hand-off.
• Mentor Apprentices and Junior Machinists and assist with training.
• Collaborate with Engineering on quotes and new processes.
• Perform total productive maintenance and assist in maintaining tooling.
