Job summary

Heaviside Industries is hiring for Production Engineering & Design roles in Los Angeles area. You will develop assembly instructions, support new product introductions, and drive manufacturability improvements across the shop floor.

Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background, hands-on experience with CNC machining, assembly, injection molding, and 3D printing, plus familiarity with ERP/MES systems and ECO/ECR change management. ITAR-restricted environment experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
• Experience with CNC machining, assembly, injection molding, and overmolding.
• Experience managing subcontractors and external suppliers.
• Hands-on 3D printing experience for prototyping and production.
• Knowledge of ECO/ECR and change management processes.
• Ability to create and maintain assembly instructions and work procedures.
• Familiarity with ERP and MES systems.
• Experience with RMA processes, repair workflows, and failure analysis.
• Strong documentation discipline and communication skills.
• U.S. Person as defined by ITAR.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain assembly instructions and work instructions for production.
• Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing.
• Drive Design for Manufacturability (DfM) reviews and improvements.
• Apply core production processes knowledge like CNC machining, assembly, injection molding, and overmolding.
• Evaluate and select manufacturing methods for components and assemblies.
• Identify process improvements and drive efficiency across production workflows.
• Manage and follow up subcontractors and external manufacturers.
• Ensure subcontractors meet quality, delivery, and technical requirements.
• Collaborate with suppliers on process capability, non-conformances, and continuous improvement.
• 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing operations support.
• Plan and execute tool calibration schedules and maintenance.
• Coordinate ECO/ECR change management on shop floor.
• Utilize ERP/MES to manage production data, BOMs, routings.
