Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems at our Kent, WA facility. You will ensure quality control throughout production, optimize supply chain logistics for production and operations, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to accelerate space vehicle readiness.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 5+ years in manufacturing/process engineering, and the ability to work second shift with flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role.
  • 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Support the industrialization of new products in areas such as fluids, avionics, optics, antennas, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), design for test (DFT).
  • Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes that support Blue Origin’s mission.
  • Collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, supply chain, and production teams to accelerate building a road to space.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
  • Evaluate and implement new manufacturing technologies and methods (e.g., composites, precision machining, additive manufacturing, advanced assembly).
  • Support root cause analysis of process or product non‑conformances; develop and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
  • Identify and complete opportunities for efficiency gains and cost reduction.
