Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to define and direct manufacturing directions for aerospace vehicle architectures. You will lead hands‑on support from concept through demonstrators, applying DFX and producibility practices across AI&T activities.

The role requires coordinating with design, program management, and operations, while mentoring engineers and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced setting. Relocation offered; travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field.
• Strong understanding of component and system development lifecycle from concept through production.
• Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and coordinate activities across multiple stakeholders.
• Experience planning and supporting R&D hardware builds including design requirements, work instructions, BOMs, process docs, and non‑conformance resolution.
• Proven success influencing design requirements and developing manufacturing processes.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills including presenting to senior leadership.
• Flexibility to support critical milestones, which may require extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the manufacturing focal for assigned subsystems/AI&T activities, establishing manufacturing plans for vehicle architectures and presenting solutions to leadership.
• Plan for and support builds of engineering demonstrators, test articles, and prototype hardware, providing hands‑on support during fabrication, assembly, and testing.
• Drive DFX principles, conduct producibility assessments, support trade studies, and develop roadmaps to bridge manufacturing tech gaps.
• Develop manufacturing artifacts including Production Readiness Level assessments, management plans, build strategies, capacity plans, and tooling designs.
• Partner with Program Management, Design Engineering, and Operations to identify risks, establish mitigation plans, and influence design/program decisions.
• Mentor engineers, challenge teams to question requirements, and foster integrity and continuous improvement.
