Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking an experienced engineer to own and optimize machining operations for Terran R manufacturing. You will work across two large mills and a VTL, aligning design inputs with manufacturability and lead times.

The role spans tooling, process definition, and cross‑functional collaboration with design and reliability teams. You will contribute to new product introductions, improve high‑volume work, and help standardize processes as the factory scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
• 5+ years progressive and related experience required.
• 3D & 2D design/drafting skills per ASME Y14.5M (NX preferred).
• Excellent interpersonal skills interfacing with engineering and manufacturing groups.
• Direct experience with CNC milling and turning operations across multiple materials.
• Understanding of machine programming (G-code) and machine setup.
• Strong engineering fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement/factory design, fastening and joining, machining.

Responsibilities

• Share ownership of operations on our large 3-axis and 5-axis milling machines and VTL.
• Introduce new products to these machines and improve high-volume work.
• Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and vendors to drive progress.
• Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity processes.
• Help establish new machining work centers with tooling and process definitions.
• Support shop floor with live issue resolution and upstream feedback for manufacturing tech.
• Provide DFM feedback to structures teams through prototype and flight build.
