Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Engineer for Primary Structures to drive design-for-manufacturing in Terran R's build.

You will work with design, manufacturing, reliability, and suppliers on shop-floor assembly, create work instructions, and lead process improvements across multiple work centers. Candidates should have 8+ years in manufacturing or aerospace structures and a related bachelor’s degree with strong GD&T and machining knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, aeronautical, mechanical engineering, or similar field.
• 8+ years progressive experience in manufacturing or structures.
• Experience with complex assembly builds and manufacturability input.
• Strong interfacing with design and production teams.
• Fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, process improvement, fastening and joining, machining.
• Familiarity with drilling, trimming, and GD&T.

Responsibilities

• Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to structures teams during development and builds.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, reliability, production teams and vendors.
• Cover the shop floor for primary structure assembly work centers.
• Champion process improvements across work centers to improve assembly operations and capture learnings.
• Create work instructions, specifications, and best practices across high-fidelity processes.
